Big C by Hector Acosta
This is the first story I've seen from Mr. Acosta, and it's a unique tale over at Shotgun Honey. A little raunchy, tense without violence, sad without death and even manages to find a little hope at the end. In what is mainly a dialog, we find two characters we can root for.
The Fireline by Court Merrigan
Great story from Mr. Merrigan at The Flash Fiction Offensive. I've really enjoyed his recent stories, and he manages again to pack a lot of character into the small format. Here, there is a fast pace in the dialog, fueled by anger and a fire. It pushes the characters and they're still running when its all over.
